Saturday Morning: Session 2 - Pastor Peter Hornung

'Walking in the Supernatural'

Matthew 14:22-36

In this passage the Lord encouraged the disciples. He told them not to worry. They had been afraid because they thought that they had seen a ghost.

'When Jesus said 'come,' Peter began to walk on the word. Literally, who is the word? The word is Jesus. In the beginning was the word and the word was God.'

Pastor Peter outline four things to take into account if we are to walk in the supernatural.

Firstly, prayer. Jesus separated himself apart to pray. The disciples were praying in the boat!

Secondly, the Word of God. Peter walked according to the word of Jesus.

Thirdly, faith. It is the consequence of prayer and the word of God. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Faith is a spirit by which we need to be filled. Ask God to increase your faith. Faith in Hebrews 11 describes faith as the 'assurance of things hope for.' One part of this is to believe, because believing opens up the possibility for things to occur.

Fourthly, it is important to act. Peter believed that he could walk on water, but he needed to take action. It was not enough to only believe that he could walk on water…he would not have done so without taking action. The word of God says, 'according to your faith in action, may it be done to you.' The first part of faith is boldness. The second part is determination: do something and remain doing it, not matter what the circumstances.

Pastor Peter led people in prayer to rededicate themselves to living life in the supernatural.

Friday Night - A Great Year in Colombia

'In the month of January, the goal was to fill the largest venue in Bogotá 12 times for the year. Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park can hold 200,000 people and has already been filled ten times in 2007.' Pastor César explained that 'with the church leadership, we believed God and God gave us the grace and support to see every service there'

'24 years ago we were only eight people but today we can see this. That is the reason why the politicians are interested in us. The church could tip the scale of politics and we can decide who will govern. It is about mobilising people to become aware of the need for involvement in the process. We have mobilised people to have marches and to have an influence in the direction of our nation.'

Church Planting
In 2007, International Charismatic Mission planted 120 satellite churches throughout Colombia.

New Building
The church has been able to purchase a new building, one of the largest in Bogotá, that can seat 11,000 people. Costing $7m US dollars, Pastor César challenged each church member to give $250 toward the purchase costs. Plans are underway to renovate the building and turn it into a modern convention centre to serve the church and the city.

Friday Night - Pastora Claudia Castellanos Campaigning

Claudia Castellanos is unable to be at the conference because of the local and national elections taking place in Colombia over the weekend. Senator Claudia is leading 170 members of the church who are seeking election to local offices. Of the senior twelve from International Charismatic Mission, three leaders are standing for the Council of Bogotá which has 45 seats. Angelica Touae, Orlando Casta?eda, and Clara Sandoval are candidates with the party, Radical Change (Cambio Radical). The strategy to see them elected is for four of the twelve to each vote for the three candidates. It is estimated that this strategy will ensure approximately 15,000 votes for each, guaranteeing them victory and a seat on the Council. The candidate for Mayor of Bogotá, Enrique Pe?aloza, has the support of the church. In total, there are 170 leaders from the church standing for office across Colombia.

Pastor César explained that the need to influence the political world is critical. 'Every year we need to fight a battle. If we do not have our people prepared then it is very difficult to fight for our laws. We must support people who are intellectuals and spiritual. God has supported us in what we have done in Colombia.'

Pastora Claudia is standing against moves to legalise abortion in Colombia, a battle that is very close at the moment. Referring to the pro-life march on Saturday, César said, 'The fact that we are here in front of a rally tomorrow is so that we can pray and declare the destiny of babies for the future. We can declare it and we can do it.'

Friday Night - 40 Years

2007 marks the 40th anniversary of the Abortion Act.

Since this time, 180,000 abortions have been performed every year, equal to two times the size of Wembley Stadium. Of these, only 137 were because the mothers life was in danger, 1,950 because the baby might be born disabled (including minor defects such as cleft lip), 2,000 were because of a risk to the mental health of the mother.

Today, over 97% of terminations are carried out for social reasons. 6,700,000 abortions have been carried out since the Act was passed. 10% of the population of the UK is missing - 74 Wembley Stadiums. It is the next generation, it is those children who don't have the right to be born or safe in their mother's womb.

Friday Morning: Session 2 - Pastora Mirtha Hornung

'We are the Salt of the Earth'

Matthew 5:13-16.
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.'

'We are the salt of the earth and the light of this world.' Pastora Mirtha noted that many of us have read this verse before, but that God wanted to give all a new revelation about it. As a politician, she said that God had given her a new revelation about this verse...
